FNRS Research Fellow – Frederik Lermyte

Frederik Lermyte was granted a 3 years FNRS Research Fellowship (Chargé de Recherche) for his proposal aiming at studying the fate of ions in the gas phase by combining hydrogen-deuterium exchange, chemical crosslinking, ion mobility and top-down native mass spectrometry. His proposal relies on an interdisciplinary approach focused on an important aspect of mass spectrometry: its use for the determination of detailed structure of complex molecular systems containing non-covalent bonds, raising a central question related to the degree of ‘memory’ of a gas phase ion concerning its structure in solution.

Frederik Lermyte received his PhD in Chemical Sciences at the University of Antwerp (Belgium) in 2016. His thesis focused on the development of mass spectrometry (MS) approaches for structural protein analysis. After receiving is PhD, he spent several years working as part of a multidisciplinary team studying amyloid disease based at University of Warwick. We are glad to welcome Frederik in Liege fir a three years FRNS fellowship.
