he CART is the one of first structures that arose from the merging of individual laboratories for increasing the imact and the international recognition through the creation of a competitive self-sustained platform The amount of external services accumulated is 13 M EUR, of which 4.5 M EUR have stabilized 6 jobs and 2.5 M EUR have allowed the acquisition of ground-breaking resources (including equipment). Additional 10 M EUR were obtained by Walloon, national and European research programs. The platform has been accredited to ISO 17025 since 2000 and has been accredited by AFMPS since 2012. It is regularly audited by several private companies. High resolution mass spectrometry will be introduced in future European regulations as an official method of confirming screening results. The CiTOS has also a clear strategy for industrial collaborations and, despite being in its infancy, CiTOS has already generated comfortable profit margins through a large international network. The equipment of the various teams of the RU is very complementary, and given the context of rationalization and international competitiveness, the structuration of the various labs around converging research areas is very critical and timely.
